Cold laser therapy does not cause electroporation. Cold laser therapy, also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT), is a non-invasive treatment that uses low-intensity light to stimulate healing12. The technique is called “cold” laser therapy because the low levels of light aren’t enough to heat your body’s tissue1. During this procedure, different wavelengths and outputs of low-level light are applied directly to a targeted area. The body tissue then absorbs the light. The red and near-infrared light cause a physiological reaction in the damaged cells that promotes regeneration1. This process does not involve electroporation, which is a method used to introduce substances into cells by applying an electrical field to increase cell membrane permeability. So, cold laser therapy and electroporation are distinct processes used for different purposes.
